My name is Will, and I offer counselling and psychotherapy near Whitland, Carmarthenshire.
I have experienced various different therapeutic modalities at different points in my own life, but working with a Transactional Analysis psychotherapist felt very different. I was able to go deeper, make more meaningful connections and meaning with my own past experiences and gradually develop a stronger sense of myself. It was through benefitting personally through this work that I came to train in it, and I feel very passionately about the transformational power that psychotherapy can have.
I am currently in my advanced clinical years of training at Transactional Analysis Cymru, attaining a Level 7 UKCP accredited qualification.
I am a member of ITAA, UKATA and UKCP, and am bound by the ethical principles set out by EATA and UKCP. I attend regular supervision to help ensure the work I do is to a high standard.
Before training I did a degree in Fine Art, which preceded 10 years of various forms of countryside management and land-based work, primarily tree surgery. I am also a parent to young twins.
I aim to provide a safe and holding space in which we can explore what has brought you here, and I will meet you where you are with a spirit of curiosity, openness, and respect. The therapeutic space will be unique and co-created with you to tend to your specific needs and desires, at your own pace.
I am a trainee in advanced clinical practice, offering Transactional Analysis psychotherapy and counselling. I use these tools and concepts to inform how I approach our work, while also drawing on skills from my training in Person Centered counselling. I am passionate about self empowerment through mutuality, respect and transparency.
Using techniques rooting in Transactional Analysis, we can examine self-limiting beliefs you hold about yourself and bring awareness to the way in which these can manifest in unconscious pattens of behaviour. Much of this can be traced back to our early childhood experiences and the meaning we made of how we experienced the world at an early age. The self-limiting beliefs can impact all kinds of areas of our lives such as work, relationships with others and how we fundamentally see ourselves and our place in the world.
I hold in mind the systems that we inhabit and appreciate that we exist as part of a wider cultural, social and ecological context. I strive to provide an inclusive practice, and as such I work with people from all backgrounds who bring a wide range of experiences with them. I welcome any discussion on how that informs how we encounter one another.
Counselling can support you in exploring a wide range of personal challenges. Many of the difficulties I work with arise from patterns of thought and behaviour that may have developed in childhood or through life experiences. These can include:
Feeling stuck in self-limiting beliefs or recurring patterns
Stress, anxiety, or panic attacks
Low confidence or self-esteem
Relationship challenges, including with family, friends, or partners
Navigating grief, loss, or life transitions
Trauma or post-traumatic stress
Anger, frustration, or difficulty managing emotions
Questions around sexuality, identity, or personal growth
Difficulties at work, study, or in retirement
Coping with life changes or feeling disconnected from yourself
Through Transactional Analysis and Person-Centered counselling, we can explore these issues in a safe, reflective space, helping you understand the underlying patterns, develop self-awareness, and find more empowering ways to relate to yourself and others.
I offer a free 20 minute initial phone call to explore if we are the right fit for each other. If I don't feel like I am best placed to meet you in your unique circumstances and help you achieve your desired therapeutic outcome, I will be very happy to refer or signpost you to a more appropriate service.
Sessions are charged at £40 and last 50 minutes. I know that choosing a therapist can feel a bit daunting so I've aimed to provide clear and concise information on this page. If you'd like to know anything more about me or how I work, please don't hesitate to reach out.
Please note that I require at least 48 hours’ notice for cancellations.
I offer sessions from my home near Whitland, Carmarthenshire, and see clients from Narberth, St Clears, Carmarthen, Haverfordwest, and the surrounding areas.
